The Death of Dino Ferrari

Enzo Ferrari said that the greatest love was the love between father and son. The death of his son Dino on June 30th 1956 was a defining event in Ferrari's life, and he never stopped mourning. All the while he pushed his drivers, who might plausibly be called his surrogate son, into competitions that risked their lives and led to their deaths with appalling frequency. What's the connection between Dino's death and Enzo Ferrari's complicated relationship with his drivers?
