Phil Hill: After the Championship
Before the start of the 1962 season eight key members of the Ferrari management walked out. Unfortunately for Phil Hill, the world champion, the turmoil caused Ferrari to be uncompetitive. With only superficial improvements, the Sharknose had lost its edge against the new engineering Lotus, BRM and Cooper. When Ferrari introduced a lighter, slimmer Formula 1 car at the German Grand Prix Hill refused to drive it. "It will be a better car some day," he said. "But it isn't yet. It has not been tested enough."
