Grand Prix on Film: The Racers
In 1955, while he was on a hiatus from racing, Hill worked on a Kirk Douglas film called The Racers. His job was to maintain three Maseratis and two Ferraris imported for the shoots, and to show Douglas and other actors how to drive them in and out of the mock pits without stalling or stripping the gears.
Is that movie any good? I havent ever seen it. Seems like Hill was involved a lot with movies, as he did a lot of driving for Grand Prix and makes a cameo in it as well.
Haven't seen the Racers, but I gather it is not a great movie. Might be worth seeing just for the aerial shots of Le Mans, Nurburgring etc. As for Hill, I think his involvement in movies occurred because he was based in Santa Monica.
