The first car Wolfgang von trips drove was the family Opel, a German-made sedan which ran on firewood and coal. I'm not sure if the car pictured above is an Opel, but it appears to have the same ungainly configuration. The virtue of the Opel was that it could still operate while other cars were grounded for lack of gas in the war years.
